The Buffalo Bills hail from the metropolitan area of Buffalo in New York and are members of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL).The Bills started competitive play in 1960 as charter member of the AFL and subsequently joined the NFL after the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. They achieved champion status in the AFL leagues twice but have yet to win a NFL title. In their earlier years notable players were offensive players such as quarterbacks Jack Kemp and Daryle Lamonica. In the seventies O.J. Simpson became the center of the team’s public eye. Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas are some of the important players from the eighties and nineties. Willis McGahee and Lee Evans have pulled the Bills up in recent years. The Buffalo bills Cheerleaders are called the Buffalo Jills and they also have a mascot called Billy Buffalo. The Buffalo Bills logo is that of a dark blue charging bison with a red slanting stripe streaming from its horn.
