5 For Trio

5 for Trio is a modern jazz group from Quebec City, formed in 2011 by Sylvain St-Onge (guitar), Mathieu Rancourt (double bass), and Jean-François Gingras (drums), joined in 2022 by Jérémie Hagen-Veilleux (piano/keyboards).

Together, they explore bold instrumental jazz, blending improvisation, progressive structures, and narrative textures. Their latest album, Vieux bougre (2025), the result of over a decade of collaboration, embodies their pursuit of artistic independence and sonic innovation. On stage, 5 for Trio delivers lively and nuanced performances, where each movement, driven by a well-honed collective energy, invites the imagination.
