75 Dollar Bill

75 Dollar Bill, the experimental duo based in New York City, invites you to an immersive evening where hypnotic grooves meet free improvisation and mesmerizing sonic textures.

Formed in 2012 by Che Chen (guitar) and Rick Brown (percussion, often on a plywood crate), this unique band quickly transcended genres, fusing minimalist rock, blues, drone, and global music influences (West African, Indonesian gamelan). Their distinctive sound is characterized by repetitive yet evolving rhythmic patterns, often microtonal guitar work, and a meditative ambiance that can expand into a collective trance.

Although a duo at their core, 75 Dollar Bill often performs with a larger ensemble, incorporating saxophones, bassists, and additional percussion to enrich their soundscape. Acclaimed albums like "Wooden Bag" (2015) and especially "I Was Real" (2019), praised by international critics, attest to their singular artistic vision.
