A Canorous Quintet
A Canorous Quintet is coming near you with a legacy rooted in the early Swedish melodic death metal movement.
Formed in Sweden in 1991 as A Canorous Quartet, the group adopted its current name in 1993. It split up in 1999 before reforming in 2016. This history connects the band to the first wave of groups that shaped melodic metal in the 1990s.
A Canorous Quintet's debut album, Silence of the World Beyond, was recorded with Peter Tägtgren and released by No Fashion Records in 1996. Its track list includes Silence of the World Beyond, Naked With Open Eyes, Spellbound, The Orchid's Sleep and Burning, Emotionless. The group followed with The Only Pure Hate in 1998, then issued a new version of that album, The Only Pure Hate MMXVIII, in 2018. The 2013 compilation The Quintessence brings together both albums, the As Tears EP and additional recordings. Their official site marks 30 years of Silence of the World Beyond in 2026. Through reissues and renewed activity, A Canorous Quintet remains a reference point for listeners drawn to Swedish melodic death metal.
