African Guitar Spirit

African Guitar Spirit is coming to a venue near you with an inspiring blend of African music, blues, jazz, and world music traditions. Based in Montreal, the collective brings together Ivorian guitarist and vocalist Gotta Lago, Senegalese percussionist and vocalist Sadio Sissokho, and bassist Carlo Birri. Together, they create a distinctive sound rooted in West African musical traditions while embracing contemporary influences, combining intricate rhythms, expressive melodies, and improvisation into a rich musical experience.

The African Guitar Spirit project was created by Gotta Lago to explore the connections between African musical heritage and genres such as blues and jazz. Winner of the 6th Cultural Diversity Award in 2015, the ensemble has earned recognition for its unique fusion of traditional African music with modern urban influences. The group has been featured as part of Montreal's Festival International Nuits d'Afrique and continues to perform at concerts and festivals celebrating world music and cultural diversity.

With its original compositions, multicultural influences, and commitment to musical exploration, African Guitar Spirit continues to introduce audiences to the richness of African traditions through a fresh and contemporary perspective. Get your tickets now at Tickets.ca.
