Afrotonix

Afrotronix is coming to a city near you with an innovative musical project that blends Afrofuturism, Chadian musical traditions and contemporary electronic music. Created by Chadian musician, guitarist, producer and composer Caleb Rimtobaye, who has been based in Montreal since the early 2000s, Afrotronix debuted in 2014 with a distinctive visual identity and a creative vision that combines ancestral African rhythms with electronic music, Afro house, Amapiano and Tuareg blues. The project's signature style, known as 'Saharan Electro', bridges cultural heritage with forward looking electronic production.

Before launching Afrotronix, Caleb Rimtobaye was the lead singer and guitarist of the Montreal based group H'Sao, which earned a bronze medal at the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie. Since then, Afrotronix has appeared at more than 130 international festivals, including WOMAD, Afropunk Paris and JOVA Beach Party. His career also includes collaborations with renowned artists such as Baaba Maal, Youssou N'Dour, Lorenzo Jovanotti and Stonebwoy. His discography includes Future Tribe, Saotronix, Nomadix and KÖD, an album featuring collaborators from several African countries and Canada.

Afrotronix has received numerous international honours, including AFRIMA awards for Best African DJ in 2018 and Best African Electro Artist in 2019. Caleb Rimtobaye has also been named a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Republic in recognition of his contribution to cultural influence and artistic exchange. Through its unique Afrofuturist identity, Afrotronix has become one of the leading voices in contemporary African electronic music while celebrating the cultural heritage of Chad on an international stage.
