Akawui blends Andean traditions with urban energy to deliver a truly powerful performance.
Akawui, a Montreal-based singer-songwriter of Chilean and Mapuche Indigenous background, began his musical journey at a young age through South American folk, weaving Andean flute with hip-hop beats, electronic basslines, and Brazilian percussion. Performing primarily in Spanish and Indigenous languages, his lyrics address decolonization, cultural identity, and community with heartfelt conviction. On stage, Akawui unleashes a musical whirlwind that balances introspection with electrifying rhythms, creating an experience that is both moving and exhilarating.
