Alexandra Templier

Alexandra Templier is coming to a venue near you with a distinctive artistic vision that has earned recognition within Canada’s multidisciplinary arts community. Based in Montreal, Templier is a singer, creator, and vocal artist whose work brings together music, poetry, movement, theatre, and philosophical inquiry. Her background includes graduate studies in metaphysics and contemporary poetics at Sorbonne University in Paris, alongside extensive training in flamenco singing, Western classical singing, Indian classical singing, Indian vocal percussion, and improvisation. This combination of artistic and academic influences has shaped a creative practice centered on the expressive possibilities of the human voice.

Templier spent five years in Madrid, where she trained and worked as a flamenco artist. In 2013, she received an emerging singer award at the prestigious Suma Flamenca festival in Madrid, an achievement that helped establish her reputation. Since relocating to Montreal in 2016, she has continued developing projects that explore resonance, listening, spirituality, and contemporary artistic expression. Her work has been presented in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, as well as in France, Spain, and Algeria, reflecting the international reach of her artistic career.

Among her notable creations are Chant 1: la Nuit du coeur, a project recognized as a finalist for Montreal’s Diversity in Music Award in 2019, as well as Le murmure du vivant, Tant que la Nuit nous porte, and L’écho des racines. Supported by organizations including the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and the Conseil des arts de Montréal, Alexandra Templier continues to contribute to contemporary Canadian culture through innovative projects that unite vocal traditions, artistic research, and interdisciplinary creation. Her body of work highlights an ongoing commitment to expanding the possibilities of music and artistic expression.
