Amazigh Kateb

Amazigh Kateb is coming to a venue near you with a career recognized in world music, rock, and contemporary North African sounds. A Franco-Algerian singer-songwriter, he is the son of renowned writer Kateb Yacine and has established himself as an important figure in the alternative music scene by blending Berber traditions with rock, reggae, and global music influences. His artistic work is deeply rooted in themes of identity, memory, and social realities, expressed through a strongly engaged musical approach.

He first gained recognition as a founding member of the group Gnawa Diffusion, a formation known for its distinctive blend of gnawa music, reggae, rock, and North African traditional sounds. Through this group, Amazigh Kateb helped modernize and internationalize gnawa-inspired music while delivering socially and politically conscious lyrics. This period played a key role in establishing his international reputation.

He later pursued a solo career, exploring a more personal interpretation of his musical and cultural influences. His artistic universe continues to combine poetry, cultural expression, and sonic fusion, making him a distinctive voice in contemporary Francophone and Maghreb music.
