About
Bangsokol : un requiem pour le Cambodge
Bangsokol : un requiem pour le Cambodge is a powerful performance that blends classical music, traditional Khmer vocals, and archival imagery to honour the victims of the
Cambodian genocide. Created by composer Him Sophy and director Rithy Panh, the piece merges Buddhist funeral rituals with contemporary aesthetics in a deeply moving reflection on loss, resilience, and peace.
Performed by an orchestra, choir, and Cambodian musicians, Bangsokol transcends cultural boundaries with rare emotional force. It’s a poignant artistic and human experience—both a tribute and a call for remembrance and healing.
