Bénévolat

Bénévolat is a striking play written by emerging playwright Maud de Palma-Duquet, winner of the 2022 Prix Gratien-Gélinas.

Originally staged at Théâtre La Licorne and later at Théâtre La Bordée, the show quickly captivated audiences with its compelling narrative and raw emotional core.

The story follows Amaryllis, a methodical university student, and Anthony, an impulsive inmate, brought together by a prison literacy volunteer program. As their sessions progress, an unexpected connection forms, revealing layers of vulnerability, empathy and transformation. Directed with finesse by Rose-Anne Déry, and brought to life by the stirring performances of Stéphanie Arav and Mathieu Richard, Bénévolat explores themes of redemption, human dignity and the surprising power of dialogue. This gripping work is a must-see for theatre lovers who appreciate socially relevant storytelling.
