Bïa & Maracuja

Bïa & Maracujá is coming to a venue near you with a vibrant celebration of Brazilian music that brings together two respected names from Montreal's world music community. The project unites Brazilian born, Quebec based singer-songwriter Bïa with Maracujá, a Montreal ensemble dedicated to the rich traditions of Brazilian rhythms. Together, they perform a repertoire inspired by samba, bossa nova, forró, maracatu, funk, and other iconic musical styles from Brazil.

Bïa has built an internationally recognized career by connecting Brazilian, Quebec, and French musical traditions. Over the years, she has released acclaimed albums including Cœur vagabond, which received the ADISQ Félix Award for World Music Album of the Year, and Navegar, another Félix winning release. Earlier in her career, she earned the Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros for La Mémoire du vent and was named a Chevalier of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in recognition of her artistic contributions.

Maracujá has earned recognition for its authentic interpretation of Brazilian music and its repertoire highlighting the diversity of the country's rhythmic traditions. The collaboration between Bïa and Maracujá grew from a shared passion for Brazilian culture and has been featured at major events including the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the Festival International Nuits d'Afrique. Together, they combine Bïa's songs with the ensemble's dynamic arrangements to showcase the richness of Brazil's musical heritage.
