Bluebell Sisters is coming near you with a tribute to the world of The Bluebells, the Scottish band connected to 1980s indie pop, new wave and jangle pop. Formed in Scotland in the early part of that decade, the group became known for melodic songwriting shaped by Robert Hodgens, also known as Bobby Bluebell, along with brothers Ken and David McCluskey.
The Bluebells' story is closely tied to Sisters, the 1984 album released on London Records. The record includes several important songs in the band's catalogue, including I'm Falling, Cath, Everybody's Somebody's Fool and Young at Heart. Sisters reached the UK Albums Chart and remains a key part of the group's legacy, with a sound built around bright guitars, memorable choruses and the spirit of Scotland's independent pop movement.
Young at Heart became The Bluebells' best known song. It first made an impact in 1984, then reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1993 after being reissued. That renewed success helped introduce the band to a wider audience and confirmed the lasting appeal of one of its signature tracks.
Interest in The Bluebells has continued through reissues of Sisters, including a remastered and expanded edition announced for 2025, as well as In the 21st Century, an album of new material released in 2023. Bluebell Sisters is therefore connected to the enduring legacy of a band remembered for sharp melodies, distinctive songs and an important place in Scottish indie pop history.
