Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Django Reinhardt while developing her own artistic voice, she has become one of Quebec's leading figures in gypsy jazz.
In 2003, she founded Christine Tassan et les Imposteures, an all female ensemble that explores gypsy jazz through original compositions and fresh interpretations of classic standards. Over the years, the group has released several albums, including Entre Félix et Django in 2008, Passeport pour la lune in 2012, Rêves de Django in 2017, C'est l'hiver in 2019 and Comme dans un rêve in 2023. These recordings showcase a style that combines instrumental virtuosity, humour, French language songwriting and the enduring spirit of swing.
Alongside her performing career, Christine Tassan teaches guitar and regularly leads workshops and masterclasses in Canada and internationally.
