Danças Ocultas

Danças Ocultas is coming to a venue near you with a singular instrumental world in which four concertinas turn breath, rhythm, and silence into evocative soundscapes.

Made up of Artur Fernandes, Filipe Ricardo, Filipe Cal, and Francisco Miguel, the Portuguese quartet has developed an original approach to the concertina. Its musical language rests on dialogue between the instruments, the possibilities of bellows and buttons, and sound exploration that moves beyond the usual codes of traditional music.

Danças Ocultas brings together folk memory, minimalism, chamber music, and contemporary creation. The group developed the Concertina Baixo, an instrument that extends the ensemble's lower register and contributes to its distinctive tonal identity. That identity has taken shape through ten albums, including Danças Ocultas, Ar, Pulsar, Tarab, Arco, Amplitude, Dentro Desse Mar, and Inspirar.

Its catalogue includes collaborations with Dom La Nena, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Carminho, Rodrigo Leão, and Dead Combo. Arco brings the quartet together with Dom La Nena, while Amplitude documents a project with the orchestra. Inspirar refocuses the writing on the voice of the four concertinas, with Pulsar and Pedra do Sol serving as its first singles.
