Danses Buissonnières returns in 2026 to highlight seven young artists reaching a stage in their professional development.
Presented by Tangente at the Wilder Building, this event devoted to emerging choreography brings together five works selected from 39 submissions. For contemporary dance fans, it offers an opportunity to discover new artistic approaches and creative voices developing distinctive identities.
The program features Ekspresyon with Entwospeksyon, Dona-Bella Kassab and Shanyça Elie-Leconte with Maktoub: pas de bliss sans diss, Desirée Keresztes James with making life easier, Yanik Savoie with Mue de peau and Johanna Simon with Minuit portant. The works explore Haitian migration, the transformation of oppressive experiences, artificial intelligence, the deconstruction of gender and the social conditioning found within everyday gestures.
The projects were selected by a jury composed of Sarah Elola, Nasim Lootij, Lucy M. May, Mukoma-K. J. Style Nshinga and Charo Foo Tai Wei. Participating artists also benefited from residencies offered by Tangente to support the development of their creations. Continuing its commitment to emerging dance makers, Danses Buissonnières gives fans a chance to follow choreographers at the beginning of their journeys while discovering the ideas helping renew Montreal’s contemporary dance community.
