Dr. Seuss in Concert

Dr. Seuss en Concert brings together holiday cinema and orchestral music through the world of Dr. Seuss.

The project draws on Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the 2000 film adaptation of the book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, published in 1957. Directed by Ron Howard and starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch, the film follows the character's plan to steal Christmas from the residents of Whoville, with help from his dog Max.

The film score was composed by James Horner, whose credits include Titanic, Braveheart, Apollo 13 and Avatar. It accompanies an adaptation that won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Makeup. The film was also nominated for Academy Awards for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. Dr. Seuss en Concert highlights the meeting of the storytelling of Theodor Seuss Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss, and symphonic film music. The American author shaped children's literature with books including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hears a Who! and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. His inventive language, rhymes and characters continue to inspire film, television and musical theatre adaptations.
