Dubmatique

Dubmatique is coming near you as one of the founding groups in Quebec rap.

Formed in Montreal by Disoul, OTMC, and DJ Choice, the collective played a defining role in the growth of French-language hip-hop in Canada. Its identity brings together French rap, English hooks, jazz rap influences, dancehall, and urban production. Dubmatique became the first Canadian French-language hip-hop group to earn a number one on Francophone pop charts, a breakthrough that secured its place in Quebec's musical culture.

Its debut album, La force de comprendre, earned platinum certification and won the Felix for Alternative Rock Album of the Year, when hip-hop was still included in that ADISQ category. Songs such as Soul pleureur, Plus rien n'est pareil, and Ragga Dub remain key references in its catalogue. The group continued with Dubmatique, certified gold, followed by Influences and Trait d'union. It also received Felix awards for Group of the Year and Hip-Hop Album of the Year. Soul pleureur earned a SOCAN Classic Award in recognition of its enduring radio presence. Dubmatique's catalogue also includes La vie est si fragile with Ashley MacIsaac and L'avenir with Shurik'n.
