Hosanna

Hosanna ou la Shéhérazade des pauvres is a powerful production based on the iconic works of Michel Tremblay, blending his classic play with the novel La Shéhérazade des pauvres. Directed by Maxime Robin, this theatrical masterpiece revisits the life of Claude Lemieux, known in his youth as Hosanna, a legendary drag figure from Montreal’s historic Main. The story unfolds as a dialogue between generations, weaving together past glories and present reflections on identity and self-acceptance.

The live experience captivates the audience with a blend of glitter and raw drama, set against a backdrop of evocative memories. Featuring a stellar cast, the performance brings to life the kitschy glamour of the Hawaïan Lounge through intimate staging and striking visual elements. From the elaborate Cleopatra costumes to the poignant musical interludes, the show creates an electric atmosphere that balances humor with deeply moving sequences of self-discovery and resilience.

Watching this performance is a unique opportunity to witness a vibrant celebration of human truth and the quest for personal freedom. The emotional journey shared between the performers and the audience creates a profound sense of connection that lingers long after the final curtain. It is a breathtaking exploration of vulnerability that invites every spectator to cherish the beauty of being true to oneself.
