Jazzlab Orchestra is coming near you with imaginative contemporary jazz created for listeners who love adventurous compositions, improvisation, and richly layered orchestral sounds.
Based in Montreal, the collective brings together eight leading figures from Quebec’s jazz community. For more than two decades, it has explored the connections between complex rhythms, modern harmonies, and diverse musical traditions. Its career includes nearly five hundred concerts across Canada and internationally, along with more than forty special projects featuring artists such as Donny McCaslin, Rufus Reid, Ted Nash, Stéphane Belmondo, and François Bourassa.
Jazzlab Orchestra’s discography includes eight critically acclaimed albums. Quintessence and Loguslabusmuzikus were both named ADISQ finalists in the Jazz Album of the Year category. Loguslabusmuzikus was also selected as a Hit of the Month by the French publication Couleurs Jazz, further demonstrating the ensemble’s international reach.
Glissement du Temps, also presented under the English title Slip of Time, features ten compositions written by members of the collective and guest composers François Bourassa, Gentiane MG, and Pierre de Bethmann. The project also honours saxophonist Mario Allard, an important member of the group.
