Les petites filles modernes is a theatrical creation by Joël Pommerat, presented by Compagnie Louis Brouillard.
First created on April 24, 2025 at Châteauvallon-Liberté, a French national theatre, the work is recommended for audiences aged 13 and over. It follows two distressed teenage girls who form an unbreakable pact of friendship after adults oppose their relationship.
Joël Pommerat places this story at the boundary between reality and the supernatural. The work explores adolescent friendship, adult authority, and the power of imagination when confronting difficult realities. Its world brings together a teenage bedroom, a haunted manor, and a shifting framework where time, space, and appearances are questioned. The project combines storytelling, fantasy, and dramatic tension within a contemporary theatrical setting.
The cast includes Éric Feldman, Coraline Kerléo, and Marie Malaquias, with voices by David Charier, Delfine Huot, Roxane Isnard, Pierre Sorais, and Faustine Zanardo. Set and lighting design are by Éric Soyer, video design is by Renaud Rubiano, and original music is by Antonin Leymarie. Co-produced with partners including the National Arts Centre's French Theatre in Canada, Les petites filles modernes is part of Joël Pommerat's international body of work.
