Moneen is coming to a venue near you with a catalogue that helped shape the Canadian indie rock, emo, and post-hardcore scene. Formed in 1999 in Brampton, Ontario, the band features Kenny Bridges, Chris Hughes, Erik Hughes, and Peter Krpan. From the beginning, Moneen stood apart through its ambitious songwriting, combining soaring melodies, intricate rhythms, shifting time signatures, and emotionally honest lyrics. This distinctive approach quickly earned the group a devoted following and established it as one of Canada's most respected alternative rock bands.
Following the release of the EP Smaller Chairs for the Early 1900s, Moneen issued its debut full-length album, The Theory of Harmonial Value, in 2001. The band's breakthrough came with Are We Really Happy with Who We Are Right Now? in 2003, an album widely regarded as a landmark release within the emo genre. In 2006, Moneen followed with The Red Tree, featuring standout songs such as Don't Ever Tell Locke What He Can't Do and If Tragedy's Appealing, Then Disaster's an Addiction. The band continued its evolution with The World I Want to Leave Behind in 2009, further expanding its melodic and emotional range while remaining true to its signature sound.
Over the years, Moneen has toured extensively throughout North America and shared stages with acclaimed acts including Alexisonfire, Circa Survive, Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, and Underoath. The band also released the collaborative The Switcheroo Series with Alexisonfire, a project that remains highly regarded by fans of both groups. Following a hiatus, Moneen reunited for anniversary performances and continues to be recognized as one of the defining bands of Canadian emo, with a legacy that has influenced countless musicians and alternative rock fans.
With its emotionally powerful songwriting, innovative musicianship, and lasting impact on alternative music, Moneen remains one of Canada's most influential indie rock bands. Get your tickets now at Tickets.ca.
