Old Friends: The Songs of Simon & Garfunkel pays tribute to the songbook of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, the American duo whose vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars and songwriting left a lasting mark on 1960s folk rock.
The production features David Skolnick as Paul Simon, Danny Zaidman as Art Garfunkel, John Collin on drums and Abbey Sholzberg on bass. Its program includes Mrs. Robinson, The Sound of Silence, Homeward Bound, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, Kodachrome and Cecilia.
Simon & Garfunkel formed in New York and achieved an international breakthrough with The Sound of Silence, which became a hit after electric instrumentation was added. Their 1970 album Bridge Over Troubled Water won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, while its title song also received Record of the Year. Following the duo's 1970 split, Paul Simon continued with an acclaimed solo career, while Art Garfunkel released albums and worked as an actor. Old Friends focuses on songs that reflect Simon & Garfunkel's continuing importance in American popular music and on a body of work that remains widely recognized across generations.
