Ordures! is a documentary theatre work that examines the world of waste, from the society that produces it to the workers responsible for collecting it.
Adapted from Simon Paré-Poupart’s essay of the same name, the play focuses on people who work at the boundary between what society considers clean and what it judges to be dirty. It invites audiences to consider the consequences of high consumption and the place given to the people whose work removes what others would rather not see.
Simon Paré-Poupart is a garbage collector with university studies in sociology and international administration. His perspective informs a reflection on working conditions, social exclusion, and the value assigned to this essential occupation. Ordures! questions the links between discarded objects and workers made invisible, while highlighting the human realities behind waste collection. This co-production by Théâtre La Bordée and Nuages en pantalon, compagnie de création, brings together dramaturgy by Alexia Bürger and direction by Olivier Normand. The cast includes Charles-Étienne Beaulne, Jean-Michel Déry, Gabriel Fournier, Eric LeBlanc, Philippe Normand-Jenny, Jocelyn Paré, Charles Roberge, and musician Mélissa Labbé.
