Pentatonix

Pentatonix is coming near you with the a cappella sound that introduced the American group to audiences around the world.

Formed in Arlington, Texas, in 2011, Pentatonix brings together Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee. Its music is built on layered voices, pop arrangements, beatboxing, and Olusola's cello contributions. The group's name refers to the pentatonic scale, a musical scale containing five notes per octave.

Pentatonix won the third season of The Sing-Off in 2011 before releasing the EP PTX, Volume 1 in 2012. Its self-titled 2015 album became the group's first number one on the Billboard 200. The group has earned three Grammy Awards, including two for the a cappella arrangements of Daft Punk and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, followed by a third for Jolene with Dolly Parton. Its catalogue includes popular covers, original songs, and numerous holiday albums, including That's Christmas to Me, A Pentatonix Christmas, Evergreen, and Holidays Around the World. In 2023, Pentatonix received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With major hits, inventive vocal arrangements, and a presence in pop culture, Pentatonix remains an international reference in a cappella music.
