Résolution

Résolution is a theatrical thriller, co-produced by Fanfare and Département d’Art Nouveau, where laughter and tension exist side by side.

Written by Thomas Boudreault-Côté, it follows Gilbert, an accomplished and cynical psychologist who expects to find calm in his living room after a social gathering. Instead, an unknown man is waiting for him. Rémi, a young man who is both endearing and threatening, demands an urgent consultation. This unexpected request draws Gilbert into a situation whose rules increasingly escape him.

The play builds its plot around a forced consultation, suicide threats, a disconnected telephone line, and the hostage-taking of Gilbert’s Maltese dog, Betty. These elements turn a therapeutic exchange into an unstable confrontation where dark humour meets psychological suspense. Résolution is directed by Maria Alexandrov and Thomas Boudreault-Côté. Thomas Royer is assistant director, while Paloma De Muylder is production director. Lighting is designed by Emile Beauchemin and music by Alinoë Schneider. Thomas Boudreault-Côté, Clémence Lavallée, and Jean-Sébastien Ouellet make up the cast of this Quebec creation, which explores the limits of speech, fear, and control.
