Sami Landri

Sami Landri is coming near you with a career that connects drag artistry, comedy, social media and Acadian culture.

Born in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Samuel Landry created the Sami Landri persona after exploring music, dance, visual arts and acting. Now based in Montreal, the artist makes Chiac, the Acadian dialect Landry proudly speaks, a recognizable part of this creative world.

The journey first took shape through the Acadian drag collective Haus of Ménage, founded in 2018. Under the former name Mona Noose, Landry won the Acadian Queen title in 2019. With Xénia Gould, Sami Landri later received the Vague Award for Best Acadian Short Film at the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie for the 2021 film Mona. That same year, a viral TikTok video built around the line As-tu des cigarettes? brought the character to a wide francophone audience.

The first Acadian drag queen to compete on Canada's Drag Race, Sami Landri reached the final of the sixth season. The artist also co hosts the web series Helpez-moi with Chiquita Mère and developed Le Sami Party, a project that combines drag and comedy.
