Somaya is coming to a venue near you with music that connects alternative R&B, neo-soul, and Middle Eastern influences.

A singer-songwriter, Somaya released her debut album, LAYALI. The title means nights in Arabic and gives its title to a nine-song album. The album addresses loneliness, desire, femininity, relationships, and self-discovery. It also brings her North African roots together with her Western upbringing.

The daughter of an Egyptian mother, Somaya uses music to express a connection with a heritage while not speaking Arabic. Oud, percussion, and string arrangements shape this world, alongside family voices included on certain songs. These choices make LAYALI a personal tribute to the women who helped shape her identity.

Before her first full-length project, Somaya drew attention with Rhinestones and Mary, then through her collaboration with Childhood Friend on SOIE. Her work favours emotion and intuition over strict genre boundaries. Somaya therefore offers personal music that pays attention to intimate stories, cultural roots, and the many facets of the feminine voice.
