O SOM DO FADO: VOYAGE AU COEUR DU Portugal avec Marta Raposo

O SOM DO FADO: VOYAGE AU COEUR DU Portugal with Marta Raposo is coming to a city near you with a musical proposal centered on fado, a traditional Portuguese genre known for its deep expression of saudade, a form of nostalgia and melancholy rooted in Portuguese culture. Fado is considered an important part of Portugal’s cultural heritage and was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2011.

O SOM DO FADO: VOYAGE AU COEUR DU Portugal with Marta Raposo highlights a contemporary interpretation of this musical style while remaining faithful to its traditional roots. Fado is historically associated with the popular neighborhoods of Lisbon, where it developed in the 19th century before becoming a national cultural symbol. It is typically performed with the Portuguese guitar and classical guitar, accompanying poetic lyrics about love, loss, exile, and fate.

Marta Raposo continues the lineage of performers who keep this repertoire alive and evolving, presenting it to new audiences while respecting its cultural heritage. This type of project contributes to the international spread of fado and the appreciation of Portuguese musical culture.
