THE ARMY, THE NAVY

THE ARMY, THE NAVY is coming near you with indie folk-pop shaped by the long-standing friendship of Maia Ciambriello and Sasha Goldberg.

Raised near Mount Tamalpais in California, the two songwriters have known one another since childhood. They studied songwriting in New Orleans before moving to Los Angeles. Their world draws on the nature surrounding San Francisco Bay, astral imagery, and writing that turns intimate experiences into imagined landscapes.

The duo first attracted attention with Vienna, then released the EPs Fruit for Flies and Sugar for Bugs. Their debut album, Fake Brave Life, deepens themes of risk-taking, vulnerability, the desire to create, and courage. The project was recorded in Athens and New York with producers Drew Vandenberg and Mikey Freedom Hart, and includes session musicians and a string quartet. Songs connected to the album include Walls, 2 Collide, Pretty, Pink and Soft, Stars Stay Awake, and Fake Brave Life. Their writing is rooted in shared experience while allowing room for fictional characters and worlds. THE ARMY, THE NAVY has also worked alongside Dora Jar, Paris Paloma, and Matt Maltese.
