The High Kings

The High Kings are coming near you with Irish ballads and a rich folk music legacy.

Formed in Dublin in 2007, the group brings together Finbarr Clancy, Darren Holden, Brian Dunphy and Paul O’Brien. Each member contributes a distinct musical background to a band that places traditional Irish songs, vocal harmonies and a wide range of instruments at the centre of its identity, including guitar, banjo, bodhrán, accordion and tin whistle.

The High Kings’ self-titled debut album reached number two on Billboard’s World Albums chart, quickly establishing the group’s international profile. Memory Lane, released in 2010, went platinum in Ireland, while Friends for Life expanded the group’s catalogue with original songs. Other key releases include Grace & Glory, Decade: The Best of The High Kings and The Road Not Taken, an album of original material released in 2023.

The story of The High Kings also connects to major Irish musical traditions, notably through Finbarr Clancy’s place in the Clancy family, as well as Darren Holden and Brian Dunphy’s earlier involvement with productions including Riverdance.
