The Jayhawks

The Jayhawks are coming near you with an essential catalogue of Americana and alternative country rock.

Formed in Minneapolis, the band built a distinctive identity by bringing together folk, rock, country, and vocal harmonies. Songwriters Gary Louris and Mark Olson shaped the group’s early direction, while bassist Marc Perlman, keyboardist Karen Grotberg, and drummer Tim O’Reagan have been enduring collaborators.

The Jayhawks reached far beyond the American Midwest with Hollywood Town Hall, an album that affirmed the precision of their melodies and the importance of their harmonies. Its songs Waiting for the Sun, Take Me with You (When You Go), and Settled Down Like Rain became defining titles in their catalogue. Tomorrow the Green Grass followed with Blue, another signature song. The band continued its discography with Sound of Lies, Smile, Rainy Day Music, Mockingbird Time, Paging Mr. Proust, Back Roads and Abandoned Motels, and XOXO. On XOXO, the four members then in the group all contributed songwriting and lead vocals. Their influence sits at the intersection of Americana, folk rock, and alternative country, a space where their songs remain associated with refined melodies and introspective writing.
