TheHonestGuy is coming near you with an R&B and soul sound made for fans of warm melodies, polished grooves, and modern love songs.
Born in Nigeria and raised in Toronto, the singer-songwriter, whose real name is Mubarak Adeyemi, has built a musical identity shaped by R&B, jazz, funk, and Nigerian sounds. His influences include Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, and Fela Kuti, a combination that helps explain the rhythmic depth and soulful character found throughout his catalogue.
His debut EP, Love Songs for No One, introduced listeners to his romantic songwriting, while How to Make Love earned a Juno Award nomination for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. TheHonestGuy also reached the top ten of CBC Music’s Searchlight competition, an important achievement for an independent artist developing a distinctive place in Canadian R&B.
Fans can continue exploring his work through VELVET SOUL and its deluxe edition, including tracks such as OMG, JUNGLE FEVER, and JAI’S SONG (FALLING). His project DON’T DISTURB THE GROOVE: AFROSOUL expands that musical world with LET ME GO, PLEASE DONT LEAVE, and WAHALA RIDDIM.
