Thundercat

Thundercat is a bassist, singer, and composer from Los Angeles, celebrated for his distinctive fusion of jazz, funk, R&B, and electronic music, all delivered with jaw-dropping virtuosity.

Born Stephen Lee Bruner, he first made waves as a member of the metal band Suicidal Tendencies before becoming a key figure in modern music through his collaborations with artists like Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu, Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, and Childish Gambino. His contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly helped earn him a Grammy in 2017 for the track These Walls.

In 2021, Thundercat won his own Grammy for It Is What It Is, a genre-blurring album praised for its emotional depth, technical brilliance, and sharp sense of humor. Known for his lightning-fast basslines, silky falsetto, and eccentric personality, Thundercat delivers live performances that are as soulful as they are unpredictable.
