Tokyo Tea Room is coming near you with British indie pop shaded by dream pop.

From Margate, the group brings together Beth Dunn on vocals and keyboards, Sam Teather on drums, Ben Marshall on bass, and Daniel Elliott on guitar, vocals, and synthesizers. Their approach combines synthesizer layers, textured guitars, and bass lines with lyrics attentive to longing, introspection, nostalgia, and the passing nature of things.

Tokyo Tea Room has said that dream pop represents only one part of its sound, which is shaped by several influences. The group’s name itself evokes escape and the contrast between urban energy and calm. The EP Dream Room established its musical direction through the songs Forever out of Time and Always Tomorrow. The debut album No Rush includes No Rush, I Would, Da Nang, There’s a Place, Tell Me How, and Nobody’s Perfect. No Rush addresses longing and the fear of missing important moments, while I Would considers attachment and profound affection. Tokyo Tea Room has also released Feel, Eyes Off You, All Night, and Always in the Sun. With sensitive songwriting and immersive production, the group occupies a distinctive place in British independent pop.
