Abdelkader Chaou

After studying at the Conservatory of Algiers under the legendary El Hadj M'Hamed El Anka, he helped modernize chaâbi while preserving its rich musical traditions.

Throughout his career, Abdelkader Chaou has released numerous albums and recordings that have become classics of Algerian music. His best-known works include Chehilet Laayani, El Kasba, Khayef Men Ainik, Tal Tihamak, and Sobhane Elah Ya Ltif. Renowned for his expressive vocals, exceptional mandole playing, and ability to blend the Andalusian heritage of chaâbi with a contemporary sensibility, he has earned lasting recognition in Algeria and among North African communities worldwide.
