A pianist, keyboardist and composer from Los Angeles, Cameron Graves has been a leading figure in the city's jazz scene since the early 2000s. He is also a member of the acclaimed West Coast Get Down collective alongside artists including Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Ryan Porter, Ronald Bruner Jr. and Miles Mosley.
Graves' career is closely connected to that of Kamasi Washington. He performed on Washington's landmark 2015 album The Epic, a release widely recognized for expanding the audience for contemporary jazz. He has also contributed to recordings by Miles Mosley, Ryan Porter and Stanley Clarke while continuing to establish his own artistic voice as a bandleader and composer.
In 2017, Cameron Graves released his debut album, Planetary Prince, through Mack Avenue Records. Inspired in part by The Urantia Book, the recording combines modal jazz, Romantic era classical influences and progressive metal into a distinctive musical language. He followed with Planetary Prince: The Eternal Survival in 2018, Seven in 2021 and the live album Live from the Seven Spheres in 2022. Tracks including Planetary Prince, Sons of Creation, Sacred Spheres, Paradise Trinity and Super Universes highlight his expansive compositional approach.
