Cautious Clay

Cautious Clay is the stage name of Joshua Karpeh, an American singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Cleveland, Ohio, who has become a prominent figure in the contemporary indie soul scene.

A music lover from an early age, he began playing flute at the age of seven before expanding his instrumental skills to include saxophone, guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums, drawing influence from blues, jazz, hip hop, and indie pop. After earning a degree in International Affairs from George Washington University, he worked in real estate and advertising in New York before fully committing to music in 2017 under his pseudonym, releasing early introspective and atmospheric tracks like 'Cold War'.

His debut EP Blood Type marked his official arrival, establishing him as a thoughtful and soulful voice in music. He followed with Resonance and Table of Context, each offering rich, melodic soundscapes. His first full-length album Deadpan Love confirmed his musical identity, featuring expansive production, honest lyrics, and a delicate balance between vulnerability and strong songwriting. In 2023, he further refined his sound with Karpeh, a more personal project rooted in jazz and R&B influences.

Known for collaborations with John Mayer, Taylor Swift, John Legend, and Billie Eilish, Cautious Clay has solidified his reputation as a versatile and in-demand artist. Don’t miss the chance to experience his music live. Get your tickets now with Tickets.ca!
