Chibane is coming to a city near you with a musical style that blends North African traditions with gypsy jazz, Mediterranean influences and contemporary world music. Born Amine Mohamed Chibane in Algiers in 1984, he is an Algerian singer-songwriter, composer and percussionist. He began his professional career in 2006 as a member of the group Diwan Dzair, helping introduce traditional diwane music to audiences through performances at festivals in Algeria and abroad. In 2009, he moved to Morocco and co-founded the trio Matouche, a project that combined gypsy jazz with classic Algerian music hall repertoire from the 1930s.
After returning to Algeria, Chibane launched his solo career and signed with One Shot in 2014. He released the albums Melomania in 2016 and Music-Houl in 2018, reflecting his commitment to modernizing Algerian musical heritage while remaining deeply connected to its traditions. His catalog includes songs such as Mademoiselle Algérie, Système dégage, El Magnifico, Solta Rabâa and Bini W’Binek, the latter recorded with Algerian singer Amel Zen.
Chibane is also recognized for writing socially conscious music inspired by the Algerian Hirak movement. After relocating to Quebec in 2022, he continued developing new projects that combine his North African roots with his experiences in Canada. Appearances at festivals including Orientalys, the Festival du Monde Arabe and the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique have further established him as an important voice in today's world music scene.
