Delano Smith

Delano Smith is coming near you with a legacy deeply connected to the history of Detroit electronic music.

Active as a DJ since the late 1970s, he learned from Ken Collier, an important figure in the city’s club culture who also influenced several pioneers of Detroit techno. After decades devoted to DJing and musical selection, Smith established himself as a producer in the early 2000s. His work moves between deep house, Detroit techno, minimalism and dub influences, combining precise rhythms with a warm, soulful atmosphere that longtime fans immediately recognize. He has released music through his own Mixmode Recordings imprint as well as Third Ear Recordings and Sushitech.

His first full-length album, An Odyssey, arrived in 2012 and remains a defining entry in his discography. Tracks including Midnight Hours, What I Do, Feel This, Survival and Odyssey reveal the depth and restraint of his distinctive approach. The project was followed by the Reconstructed EP, which included Carl Craig’s interpretation of Midnight Hours.

For listeners drawn to authentic house and techno shaped by Detroit’s rich musical history, Delano Smith represents decades of knowledge, evolution and dedication to the craft.
