Festival Trad Montréal

Festival Trad Montréal returns from September 4 to 6, 2026, for its 34th edition at Maison de la culture Ahuntsic and Parc Ahuntsic.

Organized by EspaceTrad, the event highlights artists, craftspeople, researchers and tradition bearers who shape Quebec music, dance, song and storytelling. Its mission is to pass on living heritage, support its development and broaden its reach among varied audiences.

The festival's history began in 1993 when Gilles Garand launched La Grande Rencontre. Over the years, more than 2,700 artists from Quebec, Canada, the United States and Europe have contributed to it. In 2021, La Grande Rencontre became Festival Trad Montréal, with the aim of linking traditions to contemporary practices. The 2026 edition includes Les Mercenaires du Terroir, Pine Tree Flyers, Olivier Soucy en trio, Sandrine Masse, Plume, Zeugma, Malvenn and La Fanfare de l'Île. Its program also includes dance gatherings, jams, workshops, masterclasses, talks, film screenings, an awards presentation and youth activities. The festival also provides a meeting point for Montreal's traditional arts community. The festival combines free outdoor programming with ticketed indoor events.
