Fruit Bats

Fruit Bats is coming near you with an indie folk and pop rock world shaped by songwriter and guitarist Eric D. Johnson.

Born in Chicago in the late 1990s as a four-track recording project, Fruit Bats grew into a band with a fluid lineup while keeping Johnson's melodic writing and warm voice at its centre. The project has released music through both Sub Pop and Merge Records. Johnson has also played with Califone, the Shins, and Vetiver, while building a parallel career composing scores for independent films.

After Echolocation, Fruit Bats expanded its discography with Mouthfuls, Spelled in Bones, The Ruminant Band, and Tripper, an album that reached the top 15 of Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The project continued with Absolute Loser, Gold Past Life, The Pet Parade, and A River Running to Your Heart. Songs such as The Bottom of It, Humbug Mountain Song, Rainbow Sign, Tony the Tripper, When You Love Somebody, and Gold Past Life show the breadth of its catalogue. Fruit Bats also recorded a complete cover of the Smashing Pumpkins album Siamese Dream, made entirely by Eric D. Johnson.
