Hugo Blouin is coming near you with a creative world where jazz, language, and Quebec culture meet in unexpected ways.

Originally from Quebec’s Eastern Townships, Hugo Blouin is a double bassist, composer, and sound artist who builds music around the natural rhythm of spoken language. His work moves through jazz, folk, songwriting, and poetry. He has also contributed to several groups and projects, including MAZ, the Jonathan Turgeon Trio, L’abîme, and the Christine Tassan Quintet.

His album Charbonneau ou les valeurs à’ bonne place transforms archival testimony from the Charbonneau Commission into jazz songs. This distinctive project received a GAMIQ award for Jazz Album of the Year and an Opus award for Jazz Concert of the Year. A second volume continued his musical exploration of testimony, public language, and Quebec society.

With Sport national, Hugo Blouin turned his attention to hockey history, connecting figures and moments ranging from Maurice Richard to Marie-Philip Poulin. The album combines jazz compositions, sports references, and familiar expressions while examining hockey’s place in society.
