IWBF

IWBF will bring the world’s leading wheelchair basketball athletes to Ottawa for one of the sport’s most important competitions.

Organized by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation, the World Championships unite the strongest men’s and women’s national teams in a prestigious pursuit of two world titles.

This edition will welcome 336 athletes representing 28 teams, including 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams. Canadian fans will have even more reason to follow every matchup, as both of the country’s national programs enter the tournament on home soil. Canada’s men will compete in a group that also features Morocco, Germany, and Iran. The Canadian women will face Brazil, China, Great Britain, Australia, and Spain.

Games will take place at The Arena at TD Place and Carleton University. Following the group stage, the leading teams will advance through the knockout rounds, semifinals, and medal games. The United States men’s team and the Netherlands women’s team will defend their world crowns against an exceptionally strong international field.

Bringing elite national programs together in Ottawa, the championships represent an important occasion for wheelchair basketball and international parasport.
