Marsö

Marsö is coming to a venue near you with a contemporary French-language songwriting style shaped by jazz, world music and diverse musical influences. Originally from France and now based in Quebec, Marsö, whose real name is Margelidon, began his career as a trumpet player before turning his focus to writing and performing his own songs. Over the years, he has explored jazz, salsa, reggae, funk and afrobeat, experiences that now inform his warm and distinctive songwriting. After moving to Quebec, he studied at the École nationale de la chanson in Granby, took part in numerous songwriting workshops and competitions, and developed a career as a singer-songwriter. His lyrics portray a generation searching for meaning through stories of love, uncertainty, hope and everyday life, delivered with honesty and poetic sensitivity.

Throughout his career, Marsö released the EP L'errance in 2016 before following it with singles including Pareil, Tristesse et confettis, L'averse, Le plongeur, Bonjour matin, Les odeurs, Content d'être heureux and AÏTA. In 2023, he unveiled his first full-length album, Tristesse et confettis, a collection praised for blending French chanson, groove and jazz-inspired arrangements. Alongside his solo career, he has remained active as a musician and composer with projects including Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra, Apocalypse 8, Maxime Auguste and Le Cloître. A winner of the Grand Concours at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby, Marsö has also appeared at events such as the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac and the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, further establishing himself as a rising voice in Quebec's contemporary songwriting scene.
