Adriana Camacho

Adriana Camacho is coming to a venue near you with an adventurous musical approach that brings together free jazz, experimental soundscapes, and multidisciplinary artistic expression. A double bassist, improviser, composer, and documentary filmmaker from Mexico City, Adriana Camacho has become a leading figure in the Mexican and international free improvisation community. After studying communication and documentary filmmaking, she devoted herself to music and developed a distinctive artistic practice centered on spontaneous composition, sonic exploration, and audiovisual creativity. Her performances place the double bass at the heart of the experience while incorporating voice, found objects, electronics, looping technology, and visual elements to create immersive and highly original works.

Throughout her career, Camacho has collaborated with a wide range of internationally respected improvisers, poets, and visual artists, including Anne Waldman, Elliott Levin, Daniel Carter, Phillip Greenlief, Guro Moe, and Kahil El'Zabar. She performs with projects such as Cihuatl, David Contreras Trío, Cataratas del Niágara, and her solo audiovisual project Loope. Her recordings include Loope, Love Me Tender, and Cataratas del Niágara, showcasing her fascination with real-time improvisation, layered textures, and the expressive possibilities of the double bass. Drawing inspiration from free jazz, contemporary classical music, and electroacoustic experimentation, Camacho continues to expand the creative possibilities of improvised performance.

Alongside her work as a musician, Adriana Camacho has directed award-winning documentaries and has played an important role in strengthening Mexico's independent improvised music scene by organizing concerts, festivals, and artistic initiatives. She has performed at internationally recognized venues and festivals including the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, London's Institute of Contemporary Arts, Café OTO, and numerous festivals throughout Europe and North America.
