Bloodbath

Bloodbath is coming near you with the legacy of a band that helped keep the spirit of old school Swedish death metal alive. Formed in Stockholm in 1998, Bloodbath began through the shared admiration of Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström of Katatonia, Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Dan Swanö of Edge Of Sanity for pure death metal, especially the Swedish and Florida scenes. From its earliest releases, the band became an important name for listeners drawn to heavy riffs, abrasive tones and extreme metal traditions.

Bloodbath released its debut EP, Breeding Death, in 2000, followed by the first full length album, Resurrection Through Carnage, in 2002. The band's discography continued with Nightmares Made Flesh in 2004, The Fathomless Mastery in 2008, Grand Morbid Funeral in 2014, The Arrow of Satan Is Drawn in 2018 and Survival of the Sickest in 2022. These records strengthened Bloodbath's reputation as one of the most recognizable names in contemporary Swedish death metal.

The band's history is also shaped by several major voices in extreme metal, including Mikael Åkerfeldt, Peter Tägtgren and Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost, who joined Bloodbath in 2014. The project has brought together musicians connected to Katatonia, Opeth, Edge Of Sanity, Paradise Lost and other influential acts, giving the group a distinctive place within the broader metal landscape.

With a catalogue that includes songs such as Eaten, Cancer of the Soul, Mock the Cross, Zombie Inferno and Putrefying Corpse, Bloodbath remains a key reference for death metal fans following the genre's evolution since the late 1990s.
