Deftones are an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California in 1988. The group is led by vocalist Chino Moreno, with Stephen Carpenter on guitar, Abe Cunningham on drums, Frank Delgado on keyboards and sound effects, and Sergio Vega on bass following the passing of Chi Cheng. Deftones are celebrated for their innovative style that blends metal, experimental rock, shoegaze and electronic elements, creating a sound that is entirely their own.

They broke through with their 1997 album Around the Fur, which included the hit My Own Summer (Shove It). In 2000, White Pony established them as one of the most important bands of their generation, featuring standout tracks like Change (In the House of Flies). Over the years, Deftones have released multiple critically acclaimed albums, including Diamond Eyes, Koi No Yokan and Ohms, each demonstrating their evolution while maintaining intensity and emotional depth.
