Montreal Canadiens 1 vs Boston Bruins 2
Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec
Preseason
The Montreal Canadiens played one of his first pregame in Quebec tonight but failed in its task of silencing the old Nordiques fans. The Habs bowed down by a score of 2 to 1 against the powerful Boston Bruins.
The Bruins were the first to strike in the fifth minute of the first period with a relatively lucky goal by Michael Ryder.
The shot was deflected over the last defender Ryan O'Byrne before suprising Jaroslav Halak.
Chuck Kobasew doubled his team's lead in the second period on a pass from Mark Recchi.
Only in the third period did the Canadians begin to show their teeth. A strange shot from Josh Gorges has found his way behind the young goalie Tukka Rask.
Later in the third, Brian Gionta also managed to thwart the young keeper but was called an offside.
As for young talent trying to attract the attention of leaders of the team, center David Desharnais was probably one who reached the best this time. Without scoring any point, Desharnais had shown great character and had been physical throughout the game.
In the Bruins, the young Quebec player Maxime Sauvé showed his color by registering an assist for each of his teams goals.
