Pre-season game
Despite a fine performance, the Montreal Canadiens suffered a reverse of 2 at 1 facing the Boston Bruins at the Bell Center. This second duel in the pre-season games between the two rival teams that was settled by a shootout.
Sergei Kostitsyn, who was publicly reprimanded by coach Jacques Martin continued his praniks from the night before, made honourable in complementing the efforts of his colleague, Tomas Plekanec to give the lead to the Canadiens in the second period.
Early in the third, it was the turn of Mark Stuart to beat the Habs goalie’s to tie the game. Neither team has managed to register on the scoreboard again.
The two goalies particularly distinguished themselves during this meeting.
The Boston Bruins called Tim Thomas, who stopped 27 of 28 shots in three periods of regular time. Thomas did not budge on the Canadiens 6 shots in overtime and also stopped attempt after attempt from Matt D'Agostini, Tomas Plekanec and Scott Gomez in the shootout.
For its part, Jaroslav Halak withstood 26 of 27 shots for the Bruins in 65 minutes, in addition to closing the door Blake Wheeler in shootout shot. Patrice Bergeron still managed to slip the puck behind him, after a beautiful fake to give the victory to his team.
Slightly irritate from the beginning of the camp, the young Gregory Stewart took on Guillaume Lefebvre from the Bruins. The two giants launched into a harsh combat.
Mike Cammalleri could not finish the game. The small striker was injured at the bottom of the body but not seriously.
